Process Design & Facilitation
Helping communities and organizations design engaging, inclusive, and impactful processes for change.
Community development is a beautiful thing with many tools. Often when we work for social change, events don’t engage people or lead to collective action. I can help you design processes that truly inspire action
Community development is a beautiful thing with many tools. Often when we are working for social change we host events that neither engage people nor lead to collective action. Here are some things I can help with:
Workshops and
training
Meaningful engagement of staff, volunteers, advocates or activists, and your purpose to empower learning for action.
Mentoring new staff in community development
Skill, knowledge and confidence building
Designing more engaging events and actions
I recommend we ban the panel and instead create events that empower action and progress on your cause.
Knowledge translation, knowledge transfer and knowledge mobilization
Turning research evidence into effective policy, programs for change and community building.
Coalition building & sector collaboration
Helping people work in common cause by building capacity for cooperation.
Participatory visioning & strategic planning
Large group planning using everyone’s gifts and experience.
Winning campaigns for social change
Strategic campaign design, delivery and assessment.
Why Process Design & Facilitation?
Process design is about linking the what and the how, and it is about incorporating system and design thinking into our work. We often focus on what we want to do and where we want to go with policy change and miss the other half of the equation; the steps and the methods of working together to get there. Also layering and linking the what and the how is part of making magic when working in groups and encouraging learning.
Process design can also unleash the creativity and the power of possibility in our change work if it ensures we focus on engaging all the brains and experience in our group. The beauty of inclusion and diversity in our community work is other people working with us can help us see and challenge our assumptions and unconscious biases about what is right and true.
Success Stories
Hear how communities, leaders, and partners describe their experience of working together for meaningful change
I have worked with Marianne on worker engagement for the UFCW Security Sector membership. Marianne’s straight forward and direct approach in developing our project, and her ability to collaborate with multiple organizations and stakeholders provided the results our organization was striving for. It has given us significantly increased worker engagement and awareness of labour and workplace issues for this industry. Our collaboration has also given us a solid pathway to build on for this sector or our membership. I highly recommend Marianne as a “change agent” for any engagement project.
I first worked with Marianne when she was an advocate at the West Central Women's Resource Centre and I was chair of their board. I have continued to connect with Marianne on various projects over the past 2 decades. I have found her to be very resourceful and thoughtful. Marianne has a great ability to analyze situations and offer creative solutions.
The Community Development program was the best experience of all my schooling. There was historical context, plus applied skills. It brought all my skills together in a tangible way that could be applied in the community. The course Working Across Differences, taught by Marianne Cerilli, had a big impact on me. We unpacked all the assumptions we learn over our lives. It was about trying to understand other cultures, oppression, and colonization. It pushed me toward a genealogy search.
